cool

Which place is that? And what Type of Kung-Fu?

link

bruce lee = way too sweet.

theres some martial arts math, lol five_animals

link

haha

That math is Foundation Math, heres some specialist math for ya...
Jackie Chan = way sweeter than bruce lee

link

how about,

five_animals = stupid cause bruce lee would beat the hell out of jackie chan :)

link

well now...

Having 'five animals' is baggin my style...
having 'five_animals' is bagging me... once again you've fallen to prejudice!

link

lol

i'm just playin,

how can you even say jackie would beat him though.

link

well

How can u even say that Bruce would win?!?
no one knows! i just reckon Jackie would, nothing you can say will change that, nothing anyone can say will change that... you like bruce, but you keep emphasising your ability to not see past your own reflection!

link

what

you confused me with the whole reflection thing, but its really just what kind of style we believe in. you think shaolin (jackie) will beat MMA (bruce) whereas i think the opposite. i just think that you don't appreciate bruce enough because he didn't do anything for your shaolin kung fu except give away some of there best secrets. lol. like, bruce is pretty much the founder of MMA, thats one of the reasons why i respect him so much. you know?

link

o i know

I know my appreciation for bruce and it is minimal... try and figure out the reflection thing, i ain't gonna tell you... The reason i don't like Bruce as much as others isn't because he gave away Shaolin Secrets to the world... i just think he is not the great martial artist everyone thinks he is...

link

i see

well, you never give any reason to your belief that he isn't any good. so would you mind explaining why you think this?

if its because he didn't go into tournaments, than thats a pretty lame excuse.

link

Not once

Not once did i say that he isn't any good... I just believe that there are people out there that are far better than he was. And i believe that if he didn't die then he would become one of the greatest martial artists the world has ever seen... but unfortunatly we will never know...
Just because he didn't enter any tournaments isn't the reason i don't like him as much... His style was based on fighting dirty... he gave away heaps of secrets... how can someone admire that... This is the way i see it... put the two together and you get an untrustworthy cheap fighter...
but... he was still a god damn good martial artist

link

ok

rule number one in taoism : there are no secrets. i think martial arts keeping secrets is a bunch of bullshit. excuse my language, but its ridiculous. how can you not admire him breaking the stupid traditions and useless rituals of martial arts. but then again, your in one of those martial arts, so you wouldn't see this as a positive thing.

secondly, nothing in a fight is cheap. the only way its cheap is if things are added, (knives, etc), cause in reality, he can do the same thing to you. fighting "dirty" is effective and simple. if you are serious about fighting, and if you know a lot about bruce lee, you'd know that he didn't only fight like that. only about 6 out of the 128 moves or something in jeet kune do are dirty tactics.

link

Hands down is right, when your fighting for your life nothing is dirty, if I've gotta gouge some eyes, or knee some bollocks, or even bite, your damn right im gona do it! on the street there arent points where someone intervenes cos its getting too brutal, or when you hit mega fast your opponent isn't gona bitch and whine about speed limitations (I aint trying to rag anyone here, I'm just venting the frustration I have with one of the arts I study and the rest of the students absolute belief in its ability to solve a fight by using sparring techniques, rather than teaching absolute working methods...luckily i teach a class so sneak my own stuff in time to time).

But yeah anyway I have no doubts in my mind that Bruce was one of the most physically evolved beings that has ever exsisted.

link

and really who cares bout the secrets of shaolin because now they even parade around in shows and 'acts' showing people wat they can do it doesn't really matter anymore no1 these dayz spend there whole life doin one thing like bruce or even the tradional shaolin monks they like having more attention and more to do in life, fighting bak then was life for these people but now people want more

link

poor poor man...

lol, bruce wasnt a dirty fighter. he was the truth. if your so cuaght up in rituals, where biting is considered fighting dirty. then what will happen when your being choked by shaq in between his legs. your ganna be choked to death unless you bite, but your still ganna refuse. and then what. your ganna lose your life all becuz you were tought not to bite. bruce never said that you should throw dirt in someones face, that would be considered dirty fighting. but yet, i would do only if i absolutaly had to.

i dont understand how you can say bruce fights dirty and ignore jackie chan. jackie is the dirty figher, he uses chairs and all kinds of crap to help him fight. i just made a good point. bruce was nothing but the truth. thats how i would explain him, he was the truth. it was right. everything he did was right. isnt being honest a good thing.how can you be a bad guy when all you are is honest. if you really think about it, then you will know that thats what bruce was...

:the truth:

Martial Arts
i have been doing tai kwon do for about a year now and i also practice wing chun kung fu. in terms of what you might want, wing chun gets the job done...well and fast. you don't need to be strong, the style is strong by itself. tai kwon do is flashy and requires you to use brute strength. i enjoy both styles. Capoeira was also another style i tried it was great and very flashy, if your choosing just for...

there is no best martial art, now days, unless you want to be a professional fighter, or you need to know fighting for your job, there is no reason why you should need to know more than self defence, incase you fall intoa situation where you need to defend yourself, or someone else. but the answer lies within what can martial arts do for you, and what do you want to gain out of martial arts; whether it be fitness, self...

My *opinion*
I have tryed TKD for a year and a half.. I can see how it can be a good martial art.. but I had way to much art and not enough martial... If you find a good teacher then it is great and it is great in fights. I tryed kun fu.. it is great.. I loved it, my teacher did a lot of slef defense.. I am not sure if I liked it because he did a lot of...

Bruce wasn't the first to bring Eastern MA over to the West. Edward William Barton-Wright, for example, brought Judo and Jiu-Jitsu from Japan to Europe well over half of a century before Lee's time. He even combined the styles with Western martial arts such as stickfighting, savate, boxing, and wrestling. Eastern martial arts, as well as Lee's ideas, received much attention due to his movies. They were both popularized even though they were not necessarily new.
