ambitions What are your ambitions for martial arts, what do you want out of them and why did you join? For me i joined because i got bullied a lot and teased because of my looks and weight. So i joined initially to defend myself. My Ambition is to become the best i can, not better than others. I don't enter competitions anymore because i just don't like competing against other people. a while ago i would be in the comp in a second, but now i've realised that its not what its all about. I have my trophies already, i don't need or want more. I often go to other clubs in my area (and some miles away) and train with them, so i can learn and give the different methods of our two clubs. So i am not seeking to become champion, i'm seeking to become a master. Thats why my current training insists of this quote from Sun Tzu's the art of war For to win 100 victories in 100 battles is not the acme of skill. To subdue the enemy without fighting is the acme of skill. I believe if i can win a fight without having to hirt the other person, i am a true master of martial arts. That is what i want out of martial arts. Because if i can win a fight without attacking, imagine what i could do when i did attack... it would be devastating So please say, if you want to that is, you ambition and why you joined.

ambition
i first joined martial arts cause i wanted to be like bruce lee :) but now i truly want to be a UFC champion, and one of the best fighters in the world. i'd like to be the best fighter in the world, but i don't know if there is a "best" fighter. so my path is down the MMA route.
i still don't agree with the not fighting back in a fight. just punch the guy out and get it over with. if you practice your whole life to not attack your opponent, then you'll be pretty rusty when one day your getting your ass kicked and you have to start fighting back. also, how are you going to train alone. if your in your basement, how can you train to not attack someone. doesn't make any sense to me. i say FIGHT! well...
See i'm not only training not to get hit, i am still training to attack and all the usual stuff... This is a goal for me... if i can win without hurting the guy... thats when i will call myself a master, but never before... Hands_down... just say ou and i are in a fight, you go full out (MMA STYLE!) after you wasting all this energy you won't have hit me... i have wasted very litte in re-directing and avoiding your attacks... but you've wasted heaps... whos going to have the advantage?! the more you fight, the more you loose energy, the slower and weaker you become, until eventually you cannot fight any longer... that is when i either finish you off... or i walk away (or if we were in comp i'd push you voer onto the ground).
Its a huge project to complete, but if i get it... i'll be 3 times as hard to beat! as for training by myself in the basement (or garage for me since we don't have basments in aust) i'll just practise the avoiding attacks... it will do until the next day when i train it with someone... its a lot harder than people think to go from down low to up right to down low again over and over and over... its energy consuming... but doing Drunken Fist i have accustomed my body to it... so i find it easy now days... which is going to make this project that much easier... With re-direction along with the avoiding i can go unhit from a one on one fight... but i can't yet do it with only avoiding (coz the kicks are hard to avoid... so i need to re-direct) once i get this done i will move up to two people, and i will keep going until its physically impossible... i havre a friend training for UFC, so i always see if this works against him... it does but after a while he does grab on to me... so i still have goals. bah
i think redirecting would take its tole on you. what if i punch and kick at the same time or combinations, you can't redirect everything, NO ONE IN THE WORLD CAN REDIRECT EVERY PUNCH AND KICK woah caps too lazy to erase, anyways, yeah its hard to re-direct attackas when the other person is skilled. i think after about 1 minute of trying to redirect, you'd be fed up and try to fight back. i can honestly say if you never hit me back, i'd destroy you. i'm not trying to be cocky, but i'm not just going to get tired. one day i'll show you :P

...
When re-directing i'd be retreating or side stepping as well, not just on the one spot... with foot movement re-directing is easier and barely energy consuming... after all the crane is a master or full re-directing... and the crane is damn hard to ware down because it uses all of your energy to fight you, not its own... so its kinda like a more intense version of crane's defence... or a Traditional crane style really...
you have told me that when you go full out it lasts for 4-5 mins... i can use footwork and re-direction for much longer than that time. i do think you were a little cocky saying that, you have never seen or experienced my skill in martial arts... so saying that you'd waste me if i didn't attack is stupid, true i've never seen yours so thats why i'm saying its not going to work now... i have given myself 2 years to complete this goal! haha, so i have time to complete, but this may be extended because of study Reaction by:

ok
I am not set in my ways, if this proves impossible for me to accomplish then i will abondon it!
If someone grabs me then i have 9 years of Various Kung-Fu styles and 8 months of grappling to take them out! so i am still going to be ok |
