Virtual Martial Arts Championship 2009

Battle Royal

Hiya. This is my Battle Royal. I want to put in fighters who I don't normally see on this site. So here you go. Who do you think would win:
1. Royce Gracie( The First, Second, and Fourth Ultimate Fighting Champion. Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu fighter.
2. Bruce Lee( Jeet Kune Do founder. You know him)
3. Ken Shamrock( The World's Most Dangerous Man, in the mid-ninties. A Shootfighter and Superfight champ)
4. Rocky Marciano( The only undefeated Heavyweight boxing champ.)
5. Muhammad Ali( The Greatest Boxing Champ)
6. Mike Tyson( Iron Mike)
7. Chuck Lidell( Current UFC Lightheavyweight Champ)
8. David " Tank" Abbot( A big dude, a boxer, a wrestler, an Ultimate Fighter, and a streetfighter)
9. Andre The Giant( Pro Wrestler and a REAL big guy)
10.Dan Severn( A wrestling champ, an Ultimate Fighting Champ and Hall of Famer. The Beast.)

Ok, this is provided that all of them are: Alive, in peak physical toughness, and in peak mental and technical toughness. In other words, their prime.
I don't want to start a flame-war or anything, but I don't think the familar Bruce Lee would win this competition. He might be one of the better guys, but I don't think he's the best. I've seen a Jeet Kune Do fighter in UFC 5, and although he was well-rounded and beat a kickboxer, he lost to wrestler in the semi-finals. It doesn't prove anything, but it's just an informational piece.
I'm not sure who would win, but I have a few ideas.

who would win...

royce gracie is the worst out of the gracies... lol, so hes out of the picture.

ken shamrock isn't the greatest, so he's also out.

rocky marciano would be beaten by a mma fighter. hes out.

same goes for muhammad ali.

mike would be in my top 3 for sure

tank abbot is a loser, and doesn't deserve to be on this list.

andre the giant is too akward to win.

dan severn is overweight.

chuck liddell is my fav. lightheavyweight, but not the best mike tyson would knock him out... wheres andrei arlovski on this list?

sooo, i think it would come down to bruce vs. mike. Bruce because of his power, speed, knowledge and endurance. Mike tyson because of his power and speed, and destructive-ness. its hard to say who would win because it might depend on who gets in the first couple of good punches... i'm going to leave it at that cause i can't decide. someone else help me out.

P.S. Is there any rules?

link

???

To say people are out just because you don't like them is kinda un-fair, and too akward?! i mean... giv the fighters a proper chance... and i think ali would hve a chance against MMA fighers... boxers have a bloody powerful punch. I know MMA fighers have poweful attacks... but both can take and dish out attacks... but boxers have are faster than MMA fighters when it comes to the hands, and if an MMA fighter goes to kick 1. hands are faster so has a chance of getting in first 2. if he kicks and the boxer gets a punch in the kick will be usless, MMA fighters don't have a guard when they get, they use their arms to enforce their kicks... so thats something to consider... and just to say Ken Shamrock isn't the greatest doesn't mean his out...
for me... Bruce isn't the greatest... so he's out... lol

link

lol

the people i said were out wasn't because i don't like them, i have "scientific" reasons for putting them out, i commented at like 1am in the morning, and i didn't feel like writing all of my explanations. so i guess i can expand on them for you..

royce lacks power and stand up skills. he's also the worst out of the gracie's, and honestly not very good..

ken shamrock is okay, but he couldn't beat royce in a fight, so therefore hes out, right?

all the boxers would have okay chances in a stand up fight, but the reason i think they would loose is because of the clinch/ground. like, lets say royce and ali had a fight, royce would probably take him down, then the fight would be over for ali. mma fighters would have more control...

now mike tyson is very powerful, and i think would finish most of the people in one hit. him and chuck would be a good stand up fight. i think mike would win though.

tank abbot? hes not good at all. lol

andre the giant frankly wouldn't have the endurance to do anything. mike would knock him out, bruce would either break his leg or tire him out.

dan severn is a champ, but i believe theres guys on the list that would beat him. hes not in the greatest shape either.

bruce is a master. hes trained longer and harder then anyone on the list. hes in better shape then like everyone on the list put together. and damn powerful. obviously was very fast, and versed in ground fighting.

mike tyson was very fast and powerful. i think he would be one of the guys to beat and probably the best boxer on the list (my opinion)

so, bruce vs. mike - i think if there was no rules, bruce would win for sure, cause mike would loose and eye or some balls, and if there was rules, then it would be a very good fight.

killjoy and five_animals, who do you think would win?

Dragon

Thats funny! for all you guys that have never trained with anyone who really knew bruce. I have studied with Jesse Glover and James DeMile for nine years. ( if you dont know them, they are Bruce's first students in Seattle. )I have done my share of sportfighting and currently train myself and students for cage fighting. I know I am not the toughest guy around but I am no slouch in the ring, and I couldnt touch Jesse or DeMile. Oh and by the way nether of them ever hit Bruce once, and it was not because they didnt try. They are very bad ass men and Bruce was the best fighter in the world then. To compare him to anyone with out really doing your homework is kind of unfair. And as far as your list of fighters....please! the only one with any salt at all is Marciano. At least compare him to some bad as fighters-like Ali, Joe Lewis, Holyfield, and in my opinion Matt Hughes, Randy Couture, and Chuck Lidell I pick all these guys cause they are road tested and true champions. They have all fought and came back and won and overcame adversity with respect, and respect for there oponent. I could go on and on but I am sure someone will respond and we can talk more...............

link

Why don't you dig Lee up and suck his cock while your at it.

link

Now go and respond with your stupid little condescension.

Cary

Intelligent comeback

link

Was I not right! Haha, do you really think your unverified anecdotes and arrogant condescension impress anyone?

Martial Arts
i have been doing tai kwon do for about a year now and i also practice wing chun kung fu. in terms of what you might want, wing chun gets the job done...well and fast. you don't need to be strong, the style is strong by itself. tai kwon do is flashy and requires you to use brute strength. i enjoy both styles. Capoeira was also another style i tried it was great and very flashy, if your choosing just for...

there is no best martial art, now days, unless you want to be a professional fighter, or you need to know fighting for your job, there is no reason why you should need to know more than self defence, incase you fall intoa situation where you need to defend yourself, or someone else. but the answer lies within what can martial arts do for you, and what do you want to gain out of martial arts; whether it be fitness, self...

My *opinion*
I have tryed TKD for a year and a half.. I can see how it can be a good martial art.. but I had way to much art and not enough martial... If you find a good teacher then it is great and it is great in fights. I tryed kun fu.. it is great.. I loved it, my teacher did a lot of slef defense.. I am not sure if I liked it because he did a lot of...

Bruce wasn't the first to bring Eastern MA over to the West. Edward William Barton-Wright, for example, brought Judo and Jiu-Jitsu from Japan to Europe well over half of a century before Lee's time. He even combined the styles with Western martial arts such as stickfighting, savate, boxing, and wrestling. Eastern martial arts, as well as Lee's ideas, received much attention due to his movies. They were both popularized even though they were not necessarily new.
