What about wrestleing

I just did a season of wrestling in high school i've been out of karate for a little while if you guys know the arts would you tell me how it would improve my karate if it does

Karate doesn't focus, or really od it at all, on ground fighting, so that aspect would be awesome for you yeah. i also reckon the wreslting defence from strikes will befiet you more as well.
in wrestling you have to be able to mvoe fluently, something karate don't do a lot. so i reckon, it will do you much mroe good than harm. i mean, any training in another style, unless you physically hurt yourself, will help your other style.

my theory is, if you learn anything, it's worth it.

wrestling is good for control.

so with karate, you have your attack/defense and with wrestling you have control.

wrestling is great for combat, but I wouldnt rely on it, mix it with your karate. personally if im in a fight i like to be able to hit first and make sure they cant do anything, but if it was brought down to the ground or they got u into a situation you couldnt hit them in, wrestling would be gd. situations like that r y i love MMA, and Ninjitsu/Taijutsu, both are fast and brutal. and but also have very different ways of dealing with things.

Any young, serious martial artist should train in collegiate wrestling. It's just so useful, and readily available for most people. You're going to be kicking yourself later in life you don't wrestle.

Wrestling season is coming up for me. 6 days out of the week, I'll be training in that. This year though, I'll be able to train boxing and Judo on the weekends with my MA club.

WRESTLING

i was in wrestling so i know that it's one of the best things you can do for cardio. now, as far as combat goes, it's not the best. if you want to take something that will be of more benefit in ground combat, then i'd have to say go for jujitsu. i'm "kicking myself" now that i wasted my time with it instead of taking something more beneficial.

when i trained in wrestling in 6th 7th and 8th grade it was crazy. we trained for 2 hours after school. we got tired just at the warmups wich were jumping jacks and one of the 1st things we did. its the best for upper body and cardio. wrestling is good for cambat, but it depends, folk wrestling isnt that useful, wich is what we did. but something like greco roman is great. we wore blue shirts that simblized our wrestling club, so every now and then a 'tough guy' would want a piece of us, so i would have to kick there ass, and thats how i know its good for combat. oh and, my other teamates had trouble.

they would always be bullied and id have to help them, cuz even before all that, my dad who was and 8 year greco roman wrestling champion of uzbekistan taught me moves and counters, plus he taught me some sambo. wich came to proov very effective when i was in a fight. when i was only 12, i had to kick the ass of a 20 year old. he truly misunderestimated me. but i guess it was genes of my dad. he had to do it at certain times in his life. so i guess that takes away the wole wretling bad for combat nonsense.

alright let me clarify. for combat: greco roman-good, sambo-good, collegiate or what they teach in school, not the best. that comment was intended for kingofruas, not you ontite. i know you have a background in greco roman and sambo and you know that there is a difference between those and the type that i was talking about. i'd never talk shit on something my ancestors invented, lol.

I believe wresstling/grappling is an awesome combat style, especially stuff like Judo 40 years ago. The biggest problem i have with it is that it can only really work for one guy at a time. Take downs and stuff can be used in groups, but most styles have them, the actual ground work is awesome for one on one, but for a group, not cool

no, my dad told me and my brother stories when we were little, how he faught from 4 to 14 all the way to 20 ppl at a time. that just shows how affective it can be. he was really powerful at the time. plus he did it bare handed and he most likely never threw a kick in his life, cuz greco roman is all about upper body.

i know the comment wasnt for me but i just wanted to clarify.

I believe that collegiate wrestling is good for combat. Greco-Roman, Judo, Sambo, and Jiu-Jitsu all kick ass, but wrestling in highschool has it's benifits:

1. Generally no tutition and free competition. Some schools even offer free equipment.

2. Easy access. You can find wrestling in just about every highschool.

3. The techniques. Collegiate wrestling doesn't teach you submissions, while Sambo and Judo does, but wrestling still has alot to offer. Shooting, sprawling, clinching( Not as good as greco-roman, but you can still add GR techniques into your gameplan.), you develop balance on the ground, reversals, and a few pins that translate well into other arts.

4. The conditioning. We do alot of that. Wrestlers develop good conditioning, and not just from typical exercises that are meant to build up your wind( like running). Wrestlers build up their wind by wrestling, working techniques with resistance, iron man, etc.

5. Highschool wrestling is a good base to build on with other arts. I wouldn't have grasped sub. wrestling and jiu-jitsu as well as I did if I didn't wrestle in the winter.
Just read a Grappling magazine and look up the profiles of TUF and UFC fighters. You should observe how many of them were star wrestlers in highschool.

yeah, i was more saying once you get to the ground you can only handl;e 1, maybe two people when actually grappling, the tand up stuff can take on more, but its nearly impossible to take on 20 people if your locked up with 1 of them on the ground, and then there are 19 kicking your ribs. Turtle style kung fu is awesome for defending against people when they're standing and your on your back, but even then, i have only ever managed to defend against 3 poeple (not being allowed to stand up) and that was their fault as well, not my skill. 2 i can do, but 3 its a rare thing, you must wait for them to make a mistake

I would have to say that grappling and wrestling are essential for multiple opponent scenarios. Being able to beat one person is the first step in being able to fight 20 guys.
Wrestling and grappling also teach you how to escape holds, sweep from bottom and stand up, and defend takedowns. A pure striker would be hardpressed to escape from someones hold when twenty people are barreling down on him.

You just seem a tad more coherent than Onite. Is it possible that you could get a video of you taking out multiple men?

Tae kwon do

Bruce Lees style that he created himself jeet kwan do. (the art on no style). Ranked supreme during his time it broke down the all of the of the flaws of gung fu, kung fu, shaolin, boxing mu thai, judo etc. Jeet kwan do was all of the style combined into one style. Bruce lee is the greatest because he was the best at every popular fighting style at his time. Debating On Fighting
Well i'm new, but I read some of these comments and their all very biased. I can tell its your opinion. Anyways I was wonderin what style Jackie Chan or Bruce Lee uses.
