maybe...

karate, I don't know that much about this styles, but I would say karate, because
they use as much hands as well as leggs.
In tekwondo they use very little hands
and too much leggs.
I think you are to combine this two "weapons"
to be the best.

link

taekwondo is better

tae kwondo is better than karate karate hand techniques are the same as taekwondo so how can u judge it on that and didnt u say u dont know much about the two arts my point exactly ps u didnt spell legs correctly

link

tae kwon do

i dont think that tae kwon do is better. i know it is.
i used to take karate lessons. its all about gathering power, so most attacks are ganna be slow. plus i watch a show called final fu on mtv or something and they take a bunch of martial artists and make them do all kinds of challenges and they make them fight using the point system. a karate guy was put uo with a tae kwon do guy, the tae kwon do guy won. but in the end the final fu was a guy that does ninjitsu.

link

era

for me it depends on the era. in todays world i would have to say that the modern karate would win. but when tae kwon do was first developed it used a lot mroe hand techniques, and it was actuallyt pretty even, and in those circumstances i'd have to say that traditional tae kwon do would beat traditional karate... but for modern styles, karate would win

link

right....

you said it!

link

karate blows

i hate all karate, it sucks. it also depends on the tkd master that you're talking about becuz in our center, we do many different types of fighting like submisions, striking, holds, grappling, self defence, and more. tkd would kick karate's ass.

link

Have You guys watched the movie where Bruce matched up with Chuck Norris??Now dat's a neat example of how good taekwondo is in countering Kung Fu styles.Even though Bruce won,he changed his style and Modified it so that he could counter Chuck's moves...and that din't work either. So, he had to resort to his technique where ...... We all know what style that is.......the bouncing - stance thing(whatever y'all may call it ....... hehe!! lolz)But you can get de picture from there right?? I mean It took even the great martial arts legend a great deal to mach Chuck's Tae Kwondo style.

link

tkd

I asked my dad his opinion. He is 3rd degree black belt in both tkd and karate and he said tkd is better by far

link

shark your talking about enter the dragon or way of the dragon. any ways, i already said that tae kwwon do is better but heres why i said it. when i was 8 i took up karate, most kids first martial art is karate. i took it until i was 10. cuz my dad fucked up my sensie i got kicked out. anyways, there was a big korean kid that did tae kwon do. you know, the kind with the big scary face and he ate dogs and stuff.

my friends uncle died in norht korea, so then my friend started cursing him out and crap. the korean kid ran upto him and started hitting him with open pawms. so i did what every friend would and i defended him. then he hit me. after that everday we fought after school for 2 yrs. then my dad tought me grego roman wrestling and after the summer ended i tied him up. lol i almost broke his ankle and he started crying. but before that my karate stood no chance to his tae kwon do.

link

chuck norris isn't even in Enter the Dragon, I think you're thinking of Bob Wall. anyway, cool story. the weird thing is that i've gotten into fights before i knew tkd, but now that i know, i've never once gotten into a fight.

link

what are you smoking?

in enter the dragon its chuck norris who fights bruce lee. chuck norris is alot better then bob wall. i have all the bruce lee movies. it even sais on the back of the tape case that chauck norris is a special guest.

link

wtf?!

he's not in it. which part are you talking about? the sticking hands? if so, that's Bob Wall! you honestly think i give a shit if you have all his movies? I do too. no one cares. i've seen the movie countless times and Chuck Norris is not in Enter the Dragon. Will anyone back me up?

link

sticking hands? wtf. it was the end, where bruce lee fought him. you might no recognize him cuz hes really young. dude, i know its chuck norris okay. im 20 yrs old, ive seen that movie 1000 times if not. i think i would know if it wasnt chuck norris by now. can someone tell him that chuck norris fought bruce lee in the movie enter the dragon!

link

he fought him in Way of the Dragon! Not Enter the Dragon! Get your head straight.

link

???

enter the dragon is way of the dragon. it was origanally way of the dragon, in usa they switched it to enter the dragon.

link

ONTITE

YOU SURE DO KNOW YOUR STUFF ON BRUCE LEE ONTITE

link

the film i'm saying that Chuck isn't in is the one with Han's tournament, which are you talking about so we're on the right page. anyway, i thought way of the dragon was return of the dragon because it was released in the US after enter the dragon (yeah i know, lots of dragons).

link

he's not

I'm pretty sure that Chuck Norris isn't in Enter the Dragon

link

Wooooowww............eeesy there Guys@ontite,Leeroy

I brought up dis thing about Chuck to claryfy a point ......Pliz don't fight. To be on de same page,It's the movie about when Bruce Lee went to Rome to Defend a restaurant and de Gang Leader hired Chuck from america to fight him.............NOW are we on de same page??

link

alright

alright guys, chuck norris is not in enter the dragon. He's in return of the dragon or in hong kong and everywhere else way of the dragon. Return of the dragon and way of the dragon are the same movie. enter the dragon is a completely different movie. The only other name that Enter the Dragon would have had is Han's Island but Bruce Lee talked them into changing the name to Enter the Dragon before it was released. I can see how it's confusing. Just like fists of fury is the big boss overseas and the chinese connection is fist of fury overseas. That probably just caused more confusion. Alright look at this:

International title-U.S. title
The Big Boss-Fists of Fury
Fist of Fury-Chinese Connection
Way of the Dragon-Return of the Dragon

Oh yea, Chuck Norris and Bob Wall are both in Way of the Dragon or Return of the Dragon what ever you want to call it.

link

oops

sry, i got mixed up with enter the dragon and return of the dragon.

link

me too

hey i get them mixed up myself too.

link

it's all good, the titles are a bit tricky.

link

which unbelievable morons r sayin Norris does TKD HE'S A WORLD KARATE CHAMPION!!!! anywho in way of the dragon bruce figths chuck in the colluseum and in enter the dragon he fights Bob.

link

dizzy......wtf?

dude look up the wtf history page and you will see that chuck norris has won a couple of prestiege awards in tkd. not to say that he also didnt have a degree in karate because im not a chuck norris expert. btw chuck norris met bruce lee through tkd.but that dosent really matter right?

link

Style doesn't matter!

You can say you teach "karate" or "tae kwon do" but the two arts have become so intertwined that the winner in such a fight is the one who trained harder, not the one who learned the "better" system. As for "hands vs. legs" you wouldn't say a hammer is better than a screwdriver!
Legs are more powerful, hands are faster and you don't get as off-balance. What it boils down to is ranges, a Tae Kwon Do practitioner could reach better, a Karate practitioner could get "inside" and punch.
THERE ARE NO BETTER OR WORSE ARTS! ONLY BETTER OR WORSE MARTIAL ARTISTS!!

karate vs taekwondo

look up that subject in youtube and for some reason taekwondo guy always wins. and if there is avideo that shows karate guy winning then i havent seen it before.

link

I remember seeing Kyokushin beat TKD in a vid, but I think the TKD was supposed to be a related Korean style.

link

Just as a present for you, here is TKD beating karate:

john hess is an a**hole!

btw the best video was keith hackney vs royce gracie.

link

How many did you watch?

And I agree, Hess was and is a douchebag. He goes up and starts smacking around Anderson, and then just show off his mad streetfightin' skillz, he needlessly and sadisticly rakes his eyes.

On a lighter note, Hess' lost his only other pro-fight in 5 seconds by knockout. Also, Anderson got the prize money Hess would've gotten ( The only penalty for breaking the 2 UFC rules in the old days was a fine; you had to give your money to your opponent) and then gave it to charity, because Anderson was already rich.

Oh, and check this fight out:

www.youtube.com

An old favorite. This is actually a pretty weird match up, because Fulton has more MMA fights than anybody in the world ( Although maybe not at that time, but he still had alot) and this was Jeremy's debut. Either way, it's still pretty funny. And don't worry, Jeremy only got the wind knocked out of him.

link

unfair

yeah i watched some of the matches but not all of them, and the keith and royce vid was the most memorable. btw did you see the videos of ken shamrock vs don frye? intense!

not to argue but fulton had 30 pound on the guy, so expereince wasnt the only unfair thing. one of the commenters(on youtube) said that jeremy broke his neck in three places.

btw what dan are you in tkd?

link

1st dan. And the guy on Youtube was probably lieing. Legit MMA sources reported that he only got the wind knocked out of him.

link

well

why did he need a stretcher out of the place if he got the wind knocked out of him? not to argue with you. :)just asking:)

link

Was there a stretcher? If there was, it was probably because he panicked ( Or maybe it was just the medics playing it safe). He's never done this type of thing before, you know.

There's never really been a report of any serious injuries in sanctioned, legal MMA tournaments. If he did break his neck, it would have been acknowledged ( And not just from some random chump on You Tube).

link

Karate Do would win

I SAy Karate Do Becasuse I do karate and jiujitsu and
i know all the weaknesses of taekwondo becasue my dad told me and my dad did taekwondo. But I think it depends on the person

link

Doi Doi Doi Doi Doi!

i dink dat tai kwan do wood win cuz it is a military styles an karate sux!!!!!

butt you r write, its de person, not the style. but some styles r better than others, even though no style is better than anuther style.

link

yee thats true but my dad did taekwondo back in nam
but still id say karate would own taekwon do and also jeet kune do would own taekwondo too

The Bruce Lee Diet
Obviously people associate Bruce Lee as being a master of martial arts who appeared in many films and had quite an amazing life. But one thing people may not be aware of is that Bruce Lee had a very strict diet which he stuck to, to keep him performing at the peak of his fitness. The Bruce Lee Diet consists of various factors which we will examine below. Obviously before even thinking about copying the Bruce Lee Diet, you should consult...

Learning
I was student in this school, www.yantaikungfu.com I left in advance last winter. there are a little students in total during my stay. It's cold outside,ice-cold room inside, but Qu didn't even provide any heat system for us,and deducted more than forty percent of my deserved refund without any reasons when I decide to leave earlier.what a fraud he is.Qu know mantis fist only,(many people knew that )but he tell us that many kinds of kungfu he knew, indeed put a cheat on many...

I just love these guys who write on forums and tell us how Sensie Segal can't fight. During my life I had the pleasure of training with the late Sensie Shigeru Kimura and Sifu Mark Stewart. They had one thing in common and that was the respect of other MA. Age and and obvious wieght problem may not have been kind to Sensie Segal but make no mistake he is one of the toughest MA who ever graced a dojo. I'm new...

Bytheway
i don't think i said the right thing initially, it is not a style i need techniques for, just ways to make my punching/kicking harder/faster/more powerful, sorry for not making that clear.

cheers
Cheers for that, i'll try not to suck! lol

Training
Then it is very difficult. I can tell you some excersizes, but i cannot correct you when you perform them wrong. And you will suck definately when you do it wrong when you join a club. But i will try to give you some suggestions: Do some push-ups everyday to make you arms stronger. Put your arms shoulder width and move your elbows close to your body (for your triceps training). Make the pushups on your fists, this will harden...

No time
i know that its not the best way to go, but i really don't have the time to commit to a club or classes in any style. It isn't so much a style i need advice on, just basic things (excersizes etc) i can practice so that when i leave school and have the time to join a club and begin learning a style, i don't suck. Thanks anyway
