I have no dea

donnie

donnie yen is a tank. he's in way better shape then jet is, i think he'd win.

link

true

hes in better shape. but, donnie yen never won anything and thever got 1st place award for anything. or did he? if he didnt or even if he did, it wouldnt matter, cuz im pretty sure jet won more awards. wich oblviously means hes more skilled. and better. but theres 1 guy who im pretty sure much of you dont know about, that will beat both of them.

so

so what you said doesn't make any sense... jet li has more awards so therefore hes better? jet li won awards in forms competiton when he was a kid. so what? bruce lee doesn't have any fancy awards and he could beat jet. think before you speak.

maybe donnie never competed.. you never know. so just because jet li has some wushu awards doesn't mean hes better.

fighting and forms are a lot different as you probably know. think about it

link

no no no

its just an opinion. and i am thinking before i speak. if he has awards. that means hes good. donnie yen never performed in front of the president did he. if donnie yen was better then jet, then he would have performed for the president. besides, jet li knows shaolin wushu. have you ever seen a shaolin monk in a REAL fight. you cant hit them. its impossible. they wont fall for a wreslter, they wont get knocked out for a boxer and they wont and they wont get thrown by a ju do'st. i dont think donnie would win. now ill say it again, its just an opinion.

see what i mean. these stupid versus things always start up arguments. im ganna start ignoring them. by the way, if you want to see a shaolin monk in action go to youtube, and type in shaolin kung fu. youll see a video with a monk fighting a tea kwon do guy. youll be impressed at the incredible speed of the monk. the quality is pretty bad though.

link

lol

i've seen the movie, and he isn't that great. i'm sure five_animals will agree that his footwork is lacking and so were his two attacks. i mean they looked nice, but 1. didn't hit the target and 2. wouldn't even work in a fight. he threw a tornado kick and a spinning side kick.

i'm sure there are monks that are close to "invincible" but i think some wrestlers would get them to the ground and defeat them. (just because most monks don't have a ground game)

and why do you say dumb stuff like, if your good you'll preform in front of the president lol. i'm not disagreeing that jet li was very good at what he did. he was great at flashy routines but as bruce said don't be fooled by them. and btw, i think donnie yen has some shaolin training as well.

link

lol

no matter what people say, there is always going to be someone to disagree. simply because they have their own opinions. Its stupid to ignore them, because it may prove you wrong, and you'll learn from it.
The only thing that Bruce ever came first in was a cha cha competition... and he was a great fighter, he would beat jet li. I don't have anything to say about donnie yen except the stuff he does on film is fucken brilliant.

the monk on youtube does wushu, not kung fu. "Kung fu" is still banned in China, only wushu is allowed, the reason they let it in weas because they saw it as a good profit for the country.
There are no more shaolin monks in the world. They're all wushu monks that claim to be shaolin monks because they have dodgy imitations of the shaolin style. I do as close to the real thing as you can get now days. My training is what is believed to have been taught in the Ming dynasty (all through shaolin, since we have 4 of the 5 styles of shaolin, but mainly Ming)

These "Shaolin Monks" of today are all performers and Wushu. In the video the guys footwork was not off, he had good footwork, but he was mean't to be doing crane style and the footwork that he was doing isn't that of the crane. The two techniques he did won't work for most people because most people don't train them as much as the wushu guys. If he got it to land it can be really devastating, but it is still not the best option. The wushu guys can be great in a fight, they train all the techniques with only minor variation to make it look good, so if they have trained for so long they would be able to do things in a fight, because it will come naturally to them.
so no one, not even me, has seen a real Shaolin fight... coz there is no Shaolin anymore. The temple is a tourist attraction thanks to Jet Li, and because of it, it is long on its way to ruining a lot of good kung fu styles

If anyone wants to dissagree fine, but i have been doing this most of my life, and i know what i'm on about...

link

one more thing

It is the worst arguement to say someone is better than someone else because they beat that person in the movies. Once upon a time in China is Jet Li's series!!! of course he's going to be the one that wins!!
you cannot tell for a fight where every move has been planned and they have to do it!

link

hna?

you have to understand. a true monk wouldnt hit someone. if he really wanted to hit him then he would. but yet, if he did. then that would make him self feel very disapointed. and i know that he does wushu. but wushu is a part of kunf fu. so many styles.

link

yes and no

The monk wouldn't feel dissapointed with himself because the only time he would ever attack is in a defensice situation (there have been exceptions in their history though) so if it was in defence he woulnd't, coz he'd have enough skill to beat the person without causing permanent injury.
today's modern wushu in a way is and isn't kung fu... its too detailed and i can't really be bothered right now, some other time i will though discuss though because its what we're here to do

Jet Li VS. Donnie Yen

These are my favorite two guys in the world both of them has the same training, well Donnie's mother was the worlds famous Master in Wushu & Tai Chi she started teaching Donnie to fight soon as he started walking. Then sent to another school for more training. Jet Li was sent to a summer camp at the age of 8 that's were he learned wushu during the summer program. Then 2 years later he started training somemore.

You see Donnie Yen was born into Wushu & taught by the best his mother World Famous Wushu Master. Then sent to train in his teenage years by the same Master as Jet Li. Donnie has done as many movies as Jet Li but he choose to work more behind the scene's.

As for who could beat whom in a fight Donnie Yen Wushu is more stronger than Jet Li's, Donnie is a better fighter. But don't get me wrong Jet Li is great also it would be a great fight because both of them have the same techique and there both number one in my book.

But donnie Yen would be the winner he's the best in the world he's very strong. I also train in martial art I love it I'm training to be just as good as both of them they are the best fighters in the world.

link

ehh

everything you said was good until your last line. i don't think i need to explain in detail, but jet and donnie are nowhere near the best fighters in the world.

link

To Me:

Well as for my opinion Donnie Yen, & Jet Li (are the best fighters in the world). But I'm sure there're fighters out there that are not known to us because they're not in the spot light, I'm sure they're just as good.

:)

link

i know my opinion isnt of any value but i dont know who would win...its close on alot of levels... i mean donnie is strong and aggressive, with speed...and jet i dont think could match donnie in strength, but could match in speed and aggresiveness..one thing i see jet may have over donnie is the fact the he has a slightly faster reaction time than donnie and also the fact the he is better at last second thinking...so they both have there strengths and weaknesses....like i said too close to call

link

TONT JAA

Jet LI WOULD TOTALLY WIN

Martial Arts
i have been doing tai kwon do for about a year now and i also practice wing chun kung fu. in terms of what you might want, wing chun gets the job done...well and fast. you don't need to be strong, the style is strong by itself. tai kwon do is flashy and requires you to use brute strength. i enjoy both styles. Capoeira was also another style i tried it was great and very flashy, if your choosing just for...

there is no best martial art, now days, unless you want to be a professional fighter, or you need to know fighting for your job, there is no reason why you should need to know more than self defence, incase you fall intoa situation where you need to defend yourself, or someone else. but the answer lies within what can martial arts do for you, and what do you want to gain out of martial arts; whether it be fitness, self...

My *opinion*
I have tryed TKD for a year and a half.. I can see how it can be a good martial art.. but I had way to much art and not enough martial... If you find a good teacher then it is great and it is great in fights. I tryed kun fu.. it is great.. I loved it, my teacher did a lot of slef defense.. I am not sure if I liked it because he did a lot of...

Bruce wasn't the first to bring Eastern MA over to the West. Edward William Barton-Wright, for example, brought Judo and Jiu-Jitsu from Japan to Europe well over half of a century before Lee's time. He even combined the styles with Western martial arts such as stickfighting, savate, boxing, and wrestling. Eastern martial arts, as well as Lee's ideas, received much attention due to his movies. They were both popularized even though they were not necessarily new.
