Tony Jaa

TOny Jaa in Ong Bak

Panom Yeerum was born on February 5, 1976, in the northeastern province of Surin, Thailand. His parents were elephant herders. Panom watched martial arts films as a young kid and began to emulate some of his idols, from Bruce Lee to Jackie Chan to Jet Li. After seeing the Thai action film "Born to Fight", Panom met and studied martial arts and stunt work as a teen under the director of that film, Panna Rittikrai. Panom went to university where he studied a variety of martial arts, from tae kwondo to judo. It was not long before Panom would get work, doubling for Robin Shou and James Remar in Mortal Kombat: Annihilation (1997) and when his demo reel was seen by director Prachya Pinkaew, the film Ong-bak (2003) was created for Panom, who is now going by the name of "Tony Jaa" in hopes to bring his style of action to international audiences.

Tony Yaa is The best

I love Bruce Lee.I've seen many martial arts movies of a lot of famous stars, but I think that Tony Yaa is the best fighter.
He is very,very strong.

link

??

who is tony yaa??

link

what ?

the protector. thas who is tony yaa? he is going to change martial art not better then bruce but he will beeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee geit

link

this is Tony Jaa. not Tony Yaa. anyways his feature films in which he stars in so far are Spirited Killer, Tom Yum Goong (The Protector), Ong Bak, The Bodyguard (not the one with Whitney Houston), and he's making a new film called Sword.
i think he's great in his films. i just really wish he would talk some philosophy, like Bruce Lee did in his films.

link

?

why does that turn you on.......... lol oj.
yeah i know what you mean

link

lol

i guess they didn't know i was being sarcastic, lol. i know who tony jaa is. it'd be good if he did have more philosophy in his movies but today's audience doesn't really care for that part of martial arts any more. violence, blood, guns and near-porn are all people are into these days. too many A-list actors are doing martial arts movies or should i say movies with some martial arts in them. instead of using a real martial artist they just have these hollywood stars train in martial arts for a few months and then call in a martial arts choreographer. they can do anything in hollywood. they can make toby maguire ('m sure i spelled that wrong) look like jackie chan, lol. this is why tony jaa will probably never get the popularity he deserves. too much realism and not enough guns and special effects. i just start ordering movies from overseas if i want to see a martial arts movie.

link

that is true but i wish they would at least try to put in philosophy and see how it works out. there are martial artists that care about philosophy and watch Tony Jaa's films. i think people would respect him even more if they knew that he not only can fight, but is an intelligent person. thats why i respect Bruce Lee so much; his skills in combat are superb, top notch, and academically/philosophically wise he is excellent.

link

I recently heard someone say that Tony Jaa is the Jet Li of Jackie Chans...... Or the other way around.

link

philosophy

when we have become one with our body, harder training of being one with the mind comes next, adapting, decieving, percieving, awareness.

link

tony jaa rocks

tony jaa iz gr8t i just bought his newest film warrior king and its exellent i would say tony iz just as good as bruce jackie and jet

link

tony jaa isnt all that good

Hes not the best martial arts. hes kinda like an asian keanu reeves. hollywood trained him to do a couple moves and hes good at those moves but thats about it

link

Tony Jaa

I think Tony Jaa is the best martial artist around today. His style is flawless and untouchable. I hope to God that one day i will get to meet you. I have dreams about you all the time and i want to make them real.
I love you Panom and one day I will tell you in person. Till then Keep up the great work and you are the best.
Love always,
Darcy

Martial Arts
i have been doing tai kwon do for about a year now and i also practice wing chun kung fu. in terms of what you might want, wing chun gets the job done...well and fast. you don't need to be strong, the style is strong by itself. tai kwon do is flashy and requires you to use brute strength. i enjoy both styles. Capoeira was also another style i tried it was great and very flashy, if your choosing just for...

there is no best martial art, now days, unless you want to be a professional fighter, or you need to know fighting for your job, there is no reason why you should need to know more than self defence, incase you fall intoa situation where you need to defend yourself, or someone else. but the answer lies within what can martial arts do for you, and what do you want to gain out of martial arts; whether it be fitness, self...

My *opinion*
I have tryed TKD for a year and a half.. I can see how it can be a good martial art.. but I had way to much art and not enough martial... If you find a good teacher then it is great and it is great in fights. I tryed kun fu.. it is great.. I loved it, my teacher did a lot of slef defense.. I am not sure if I liked it because he did a lot of...

Bruce wasn't the first to bring Eastern MA over to the West. Edward William Barton-Wright, for example, brought Judo and Jiu-Jitsu from Japan to Europe well over half of a century before Lee's time. He even combined the styles with Western martial arts such as stickfighting, savate, boxing, and wrestling. Eastern martial arts, as well as Lee's ideas, received much attention due to his movies. They were both popularized even though they were not necessarily new.
