How did Bruce Lee die?

Following the untimely death of Bruce Lee, there were many rumors and speculations about the cause of his death. These rumors ranged from murder to drug overdose. None of which were true.

For the most part, the course of events on that fateful July day in 1973 can be pieced together. According to Lee's wife, Linda, Bruce met film producer Raymond Chow at 2 p.m. at home to discuss the making of Game of Death. They worked until 4 p.m., and then drove together to the home of Betty Tingpei, a Taiwanese actress who was to also have a leading role in the film. The three went over the script at Tingpei's home, and then Chow left to attend a dinner meeting.

A short time later, Lee complained of a headache and Tingpei gave him a tablet of Equagesic a kind of super apirin. Apart from that, Lee reportedly consumed nothing but a couple of soft drinks.

At around 7:30 p.m., Lee lay down for a nap and was still asleep when Chow called to ask why he and Tingpei had not yet shown up for dinner as planned. The actress told Chow she could not wake Lee. The ensuing autopsy found traces of cannabis in Lee's stomach, but the significance of this discovery is debatable. Some believe the cannabis caused a chemical reaction that led to the cerebral edema, but the coroner's inquiry refutes this theory. In fact, one doctor was quoted as saying that the cannabis being in Lee's stomach was "no more significant than if Bruce had drunk a cup of tea that day."

After a lengthy coroner's inquest in Hong Kong. A panel of medical experts eventually concluded that Bruce Lee had died from a hypersensitive reaction to a compound in the drug Equagesic. This hypersensitivity led to a swelling of the brain and resulted in Bruce Lee entering a deep coma from which he never awoke. The coroner declared himself satisfied with the finding, and so did Linda Lee, his wife.

well

i thought thats how he died but I think know one will ever know

link

it makes sense

to me it m,akes sense that the cannabis could have been the problem. Coz he too it to relax yeah? if the medicine had a reaction with the cannabis then its mroe than plausable. The only thing know would be to test cannabis against teh medacine. But then there is the problem that most people are able to take the reaction, yet Bruce may have been illergic to it...

...

i have seen so many theories before. there are lots of sites that tell this is the reason. and alot leave out detials. but i still dont think this is the full reason. i also think theres alot supernatural stuff involved. from things like his family curse, too the master with the secret technique, that supposedly started bruce lees headaches.

i dont think anyone will know the other side to bruces death. theres also the things about the demons and evil spirits. i think bruce lee died protecting the right to teach anyone secret moves and techniques.

Bruce Lee's death was officially attributed to Cerebral Edema.

On July 20, 1973, Lee was in Hong Kong, due to have dinner with former James Bond star George Lazenby, with whom he intended to make a film. According to Lee's wife Linda, Bruce met producer Raymond Chow at 2 P.M. at home to discuss the making of the movie Game of Death. They worked until 4 P.M. and then drove together to the home of Betty Ting Pei, a Taiwanese actress (claimed by some to be Lee's mistress) who was to have a leading role in the film. The three went over the script at her home, and then Chow left to attend a dinner meeting.

A short time later, Lee complained of a headache, and Ting Pei gave him a prescription analgesic known as Equagesic. At around 7:30 P.M., he lay down for a nap. After Lee didn't turn up for the dinner, Chow came to the apartment but could not wake Lee up. A doctor was summoned, who spent ten minutes attempting to revive him before sending him by ambulance to Queen Elizabeth Hospital. However, Lee was dead by the time he reached the hospital. There was no visible external injury; however, his brain had swollen considerably, from 1,400 to 1,575 grams (13%). Lee was thirty-two years old. The medical staff examining him concluded that the immediate cause of death was Cerebral Edema. Dr. R. R. Lycette of Queen Elizabeth Hospital determined that the swelling in the brain, and Lee's untimely death, was the result of an adverse reaction to one of the compounds in the prescription Equagesic tablet. The autopsy also revealed traces of cannabis in his body although doctors were certain it did not contribute to his death. On October 15, 2005, Chow stated in an interview that Lee was allergic to Equagesic. When the physicians announced Bruce Lee's death officially, it was pronounced Death by Misadventure.

However, the exact details of Lee's death were controversial from the moment it was announced. Bruce Lee's iconic status and unusual death at a young age led to several conspiracy theories about Lee's death, such as a murder involving Triads seeking protection money, vengeful rival martial artists, or other enemies like Chinese and American directors and producers — but none of these are supported by any evidence. His sudden death has since passed into the realm of legend, with one legend claiming that Lee faked his death, and will return when he has perfected his martial arts.

Hey, I really like this forum.
It's cool to see what other people think and believe about some of the most famous martial artists. I was reading gunz's and lohan?'s comments, and then looked at the long list, and stopped reading right around where lohan said that he respected gunz. idk, if this forum is outdated, and that my comment will mean nothing... but here are my two cents anyway... Bruce Lee is great. Jet Li is great. Jackie Chan... is just crazy. Ha :) I think that...

Why Jackie chan would not last 1 round with bruce lee.
Bruce Lees style that he created himself jeet kwan do. (the art on no style). Ranked supreme during his time it broke down the all of the of the flaws of gung fu, kung fu, shaolin, boxing mu thai, judo etc. Jeet kwan do was all of the style combined into one style. If Jackie chan came at bruce with just his simple shaolin munk fighting style it would only be seconds before Bruce Lee would pick him apart. I...

Bruce lee is the greatest "why?"
Bruce lee is the greatest because he was the best at every popular fighting style at his time. If he lived in our era he would have studied brazilian jui jitzu and all of the other styles that have emerged in the ufc, k-1 etc. The best fighter is the who can adapt to all styles and that was what bruce lee was all about he trained and worked harder than any fighter ever. If there was a modern day...
