Kwan Tak Hing

First nomination for the VMAC 2008

link

I'd like to nominate Oleg Taktarov, Bob Sapp, and.... The last guy slipped my mind. But both these guys are accomphlished martial artists who have appeared in action and sports movie.

Taktarov was in Rollerball, and plenty of other actions movie. He's a Sambo and UFC fighter.

Sapp appeared in The Longest Yard, and he's a star kickboxer.

link

Oh yeah, the last guy is Nathan Jones. He was in Fearless, and a few other martial arts movies.

link

porky

id like to nominate porky from jet li`s once upon a time in china 1 he might be really chubby but he is a strong fighter

link

porky continued

oh i remembered his name it is kent cheng and he was a butcher in once upon a time 1 and he was also in crime story

link

I wonder.

I wish to nominate Janet Reno.
She's obviously an actor due to being a politician,
has been on film, and can defenitely bring hell with her to any one foolish enough to face her in the octagon.

link

What's up?

Why hasn't anyone tapped the potential that is Jeff Speakman?
Can anyone think of a Martial Artist with faster hands who can even kick pretty well?
I nominate Jeff Speakman.

link

You'll like this one.

I nominate Hayden Christianson.
He was both Anakin Skywalker and Darth Vader, both fighters to the core, and recieved actual Martial Arts training for his Star Wars movie roles.
"You do not know the full power of the Dark Side of the Force!"

link

Hmm.

I nominate Mike Tyson.
He's been in movies(Scary Movie 4 etc...), has lightning fast punches, can take a hit or too many of them, great power, is extremely quick and agile on his feet when in top form, and may resort to the occasional chomp, a fierce and devastating weapon in his arsenal causing his enemies to temporarily hop like rabits.

link

mirko cro cop

i nominate mirko cro cop because he is one of the best fighters in the world he is strong has powerfull high kicks he will dominate in ufc once he becomes the champion he is also an actor he made a movie called the ultimate force he is planing to make new martial arts movies with jean claude van damme

link

tito ortiz

dats who i nominate he appears in cradle 2 the grave as a cage fighter

link

Matsau Oyama

Matsau Oyama is the founder of Kyokushin kaikan
total he fought against 270 opponents and beated them all , most of them with a single attack. No fight lasted longer than 3 minutes and most were finished after a few seconds. Oyama based his fights on the samurai fighting principle of one blow, certain dead (Ichi geki, hissatsu). If he came close to you, than the fight was over, if he hit you, something broke, if you tried to block his attach, the result would be a broken or dislocated arm and if you didn't block your ribs would be broken. Due to his power and skill he bacame known as God's Hand.

link

Oyama was good because he sparred. He put the sparring back in karate, and helped fixed some of the damage Gichin Funakoshi did to it.

link

Lateef Crowder

I'd like to nominate Lateef Crowder, he is an amazing Capoeirista! He is the capoeira fighter who takes on Tony Jaa in Tom-Yum-Goong (The Protector, Ong Bak2, Warrior King (whatever it's called where you are)). He is also an amazing acrobatic artist and is part of the ZeroGravity stunt team. He is very fluent when fighting and great to watch, he also has great upper body strength!

Martial Arts
i have been doing tai kwon do for about a year now and i also practice wing chun kung fu. in terms of what you might want, wing chun gets the job done...well and fast. you don't need to be strong, the style is strong by itself. tai kwon do is flashy and requires you to use brute strength. i enjoy both styles. Capoeira was also another style i tried it was great and very flashy, if your choosing just for...

.
there is no best martial art, now days, unless you want to be a professional fighter, or you need to know fighting for your job, there is no reason why you should need to know more than self defence, incase you fall intoa situation where you need to defend yourself, or someone else. but the answer lies within what can martial arts do for you, and what do you want to gain out of martial arts; whether it be fitness, self...

My *opinion*
I have tryed TKD for a year and a half.. I can see how it can be a good martial art.. but I had way to much art and not enough martial... If you find a good teacher then it is great and it is great in fights. I tryed kun fu.. it is great.. I loved it, my teacher did a lot of slef defense.. I am not sure if I liked it because he did a lot of...

Bruce wasn't the first to bring Eastern MA over to the West. Edward William Barton-Wright, for example, brought Judo and Jiu-Jitsu from Japan to Europe well over half of a century before Lee's time. He even combined the styles with Western martial arts such as stickfighting, savate, boxing, and wrestling. Eastern martial arts, as well as Lee's ideas, received much attention due to his movies. They were both popularized even though they were not necessarily new.
