Your wisdom and knowledge of styles is needed
Hi, it looks like i need your help. i am 15 and have been an avid martial artist since i could breath, but because of my education (it comes first blah blah blah) i haven't been able to spefically choose a school or attend any classes of any style.
Nevertheless, i have always used a punch bag at home (for both kicking and punching) and have recently started lifting weights.
I was wondering if anyone has any useful fighting techniques that i can practice in my garden or on the bag, although i realise self teaching isn't the best option, it is the only one i have so please help.
i am relatively athletic but not terribly flexible, however i will try and improve everthing to suit whatever advice you offer.
I have always preferred Muay Thai, Wing Chun and Capoeira, so anything to help me progress with those styles would be appreciated, but as i have no style, anything will suit!
(I do intend taking up martial arts very seriously when i leave school, so the tips i get will only be temporary and as a foundation of proper training).

Hi
Where do you live? It is quite difficult to learn a style from a book. You might find a teacher in your area. Maybe i can help to find one for you.

No time
i know that its not the best way to go, but i really don't have the time to commit to a club or classes in any style.
It isn't so much a style i need advice on, just basic things (excersizes etc) i can practice so that when i leave school and have the time to join a club and begin learning a style, i don't suck.
Thanks anyway

Training
Then it is very difficult. I can tell you some excersizes, but i cannot correct you when you perform them wrong. And you will suck definately when you do it wrong when you join a club.
But i will try to give you some suggestions: Do some push-ups everyday to make you arms stronger. Put your arms shoulder width and move your elbows close to your body (for your triceps training). Make the pushups on your fists, this will harden your fists and strengten your wrists. Succes!

Bytheway
i don't think i said the right thing initially, it is not a style i need techniques for, just ways to make my punching/kicking harder/faster/more powerful, sorry for not making that clear.

Hey, I really like this forum.
It's cool to see what other people think and believe about some of the most famous martial artists. I was reading gunz's and lohan?'s comments, and then looked at the long list, and stopped reading right around where lohan said that he respected gunz. idk, if this forum is outdated, and that my comment will mean nothing... but here are my two cents anyway...
Bruce Lee is great. Jet Li is great. Jackie Chan... is just crazy.
Ha :) I think that...

Why Jackie chan would not last 1 round with bruce lee.
Bruce Lees style that he created himself jeet kwan do. (the art on no style). Ranked supreme during his time it broke down the all of the of the flaws of gung fu, kung fu, shaolin, boxing mu thai, judo etc. Jeet kwan do was all of the style combined into one style. If Jackie chan came at bruce with just his simple shaolin munk fighting style it would only be seconds before Bruce Lee would pick him apart. I...

Bruce lee is the greatest "why?"
Bruce lee is the greatest because he was the best at every popular fighting style at his time. If he lived in our era he would have studied brazilian jui jitzu and all of the other styles that have emerged in the ufc, k-1 etc. The best fighter is the who can adapt to all styles and that was what bruce lee was all about he trained and worked harder than any fighter ever. If there was a modern day...

The Bruce Lee Diet
Obviously people associate Bruce Lee as being a master of martial arts who appeared in many films and had quite an amazing life. But one thing people may not be aware of is that Bruce Lee had a very strict diet which he stuck to, to keep him performing at the peak of his fitness. The Bruce Lee Diet consists of various factors which we will examine below.
Obviously before even thinking about copying the Bruce Lee Diet, you should consult...

I just love these guys who write on forums and tell us how Sensie Segal can't fight. During my life I had the pleasure of training with the late Sensie Shigeru Kimura and Sifu Mark Stewart. They had one thing in common and that was the respect of other MA.
Age and and obvious wieght problem may not have been kind to Sensie Segal but make no mistake he is one of the toughest MA who ever graced a dojo.
I'm new...
